MISTI Mobilizes Over USD 40,000 Donation for Kantha Bopha Foundation

H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), on July 23, 2024 delivered over USD 40,000 donation to the Kantha Bopha Foundation. This contribution is part of the '10,000 Riel' campaign initiated by H.E. Dr. Pich Chanmony.

The '10,000 Riel' campaign encourages individuals and organizations to contribute 10,000 Riels each to support operations of the Kantha Bopha hospitals and ensure they can continue providing free medical care to children. The campaign highlights the power of collective effort, showing how small contributions from many can lead to substantial support for the foundation’s noble objectives.

During this campaign, MISTI has mobilized 18,293,000 Riels and USD 36,753.01 for the Kantha Bopha Foundation. This donation includes contributions from Minister Hem Vanndy and Lok Chumteav Prak Khonndanie, contributions from the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority as well as the management and civil servants of MISTI from across Cambodia.

Prior to the handover, a portion of the donation, amounting to 15,295,000 Riels and USD 6,753.01, had already been wired through bank transfer to the foundation. An additional 3,000,000 Riels and USD 30,000 were delivered in person to the foundation today.

Minister Hem Vanndy expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Kantha Bopha Foundation, emphasizing the critical role the hospitals play in providing free, quality healthcare to Cambodian children. He also commended the collective efforts of the management and civil servants of the ministry, the PPWSA and all provincial departments in supporting this important cause.

The Kantha Bopha Foundation, founded by Dr. Beat Richner, has been a cornerstone of pediatric healthcare in Cambodia, offering free medical treatment to millions of Cambodian children.
